Want to visit a great city? Here are five of the best tourist cities:
This is the New York of Europe. The biggest choice in this vibrant German city is deciding what not to do as tourists are spoiled for choice. Take in some fantastic shopping (do not forget to have Rosti at KaDeWe in Charlottenburg) and visit the humbling Jewish Museum. Also, visit a few of the many Cold War museums. Berlin has been through some tough times but is definitely one of the best cities to visit.
Cape Town is possibly the most beautiful city in the world with the ocean on one side and Table Mountain on the other. This is a cosmopolitan city with a melting-pot of cultures and a very laid-back attitude. Summer is the time to visit and this South African city hosts fantastic restaurants, wineries, shopping, and beaches.
New York has a heart and atmosphere, unlike any other city. Most tourists only visit Manhattan though there is also much to see in the other boroughs. Go to 2nd Avenue Deli (now at 162 E 33rd St.) for the best-corned beef sandwich and matzoh ball soup around then head for a stroll through Central Park. Do not forget to hire a bicycle and ride along the Hudson River!
This Australian City is beautiful with expanses of water and many parks. Stay in the city and take a walk around the Sydney Opera House where you’ll also get spectacular views of the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Do not forget to visit some of the many varied and spectacular beaches; Bondi, Manly, Palm Beach … take your pick.
Venice is unlike any other city. It is steeped in history and literally ‘sits’ on water. Walk around this historical Italian fairyland or catch a boat taxi (or gondola). Do not forget to relax at one or more of the many excellent cafés. Accommodation in Venice is pricey to stay at one of the nearby towns such as Mestre and catch the train to Venice.
